Catchdle privacy information

This page describes the data used by the Catchdle application.

Accounts and game progress

Catchdle stores your username, a password hash, optional recovery email, catches, inventory, aquarium, coins, equipment, appearance, food bonuses and audio settings. Guest play also creates a server-side player record. Usernames and best catches can appear on the public daily leaderboard. Recovery addresses are used for account email, including password resets; they are not shown on the leaderboard.

Your Journal stores pinned goals and weekly reward claims. If you choose Share aquarium, anyone with the link can view your username and currently displayed fish. Stop sharing disables that link. Catch cards are prepared in your browser and are only shared when you choose to download or send them.

Cookies and service providers

The catchdle_session cookie keeps you signed in for up to seven days. Where invitation access is enabled, catchdle_early_access records access for up to 30 days. These cookies are HttpOnly. Signing out clears the sign-in cookie. Browser controls can clear cookies, but doing so can remove access to a guest session.

Hosting and network providers receive connection information such as IP addresses and request details to deliver the site. The game downloads its browser runtime from pygame-web.github.io. Configured email providers process recovery addresses and account messages to deliver email.

Google advertising

The game page includes Google AdSense code. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. Google's advertising cookies allow it and its partners to personalize advertising. Ad serving may involve reading or placing cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and other identifiers.

Your choices

A recovery email is optional. Account controls let you update it, change your password and sign out. Clearing browser cookies does not delete saved server-side progress. Avoid putting personal information in your public username.
